Dual Paddocks for combined flock of sheep & goats - one paddock for grazing, next one all ready to go! This is the work of the regenerative shepherd/grazier, matching the available grass to the number animals and keeping them fat and happy! Additional pig paddock further up the hill among the trees. Note 2 pigs upper right.

Regenerative Agriculture is a set of Nature-based farming practices which ensures that each growing season, the land will become more a productive and more resilient than the year before. The primary focus is on building a healthy soil biome. The 4 basic practices which help ensure healthy soil are:

  1. No bare ground - always keep the soil covered with a combination of plant litter and diverse living roots in the soil. This prevents erosion, builds organic matter, while the living roots feed symbiotic sugars to the soil biome.

  2. Minimum - No Tillage - all forms of tillage destroy the homes of the soil biome and release CO2 into the air.

  3. Use Companion/Cover Crops when growing grains, row crops and garden crops. Careful timing of companion and cover crops helps control weeds, provides complimentary forage and grain production, and nourishes the soil biome, building organic matter via diverse root systems.

  4. Holistic Managed Grazing Livestock - bunch grazing animals together on limited-size pasture, and move them to fresh pasture everyday. This practice optimizes forage regrowth and carbon sequestration. It also keeps the animals happy because they are always moving to fresh grass! And it disperses their wastes and reduces their exposure to parasites from contact with old manure. No de-worming chemicals.

Regenerative Grazing & Agriculture is a wholistice approach to the unfathomable complexity of Mother Nature. Always seeking to work with Nature, the Regenerative Farmer learns to lean in and listen deeply to all that is. It is a magical, mystical, spiritual, hands-and-feet--in-the-soil, practical way of Living.
